What is LUMBA RAKHI?

These days a new word is very popular-Lumba or Bhai Bhabhi Rakhi!

Lumba word came from Rajasthan, which means Bangle.

Lumbas are very vibrant, colourful and designed with dangling decorative pieces. These are beautified with ghungroos, mirrors, stones and what not.

A sister ties these Lumbas on the wrist of sis-in-law, signifying the whole hearted acceptance of sis-in-law in her brother's life. This helps in strengthening the sister's relationship with her brother and his wife. By tying this lumba on her sis-in-law's wrist, signifies that the latter will support her husband to protect her sister in every circumstances and thus forming core concept of this festival- Rakshabandhan - A bond of protection!
